Lenovo Selects Breakthrough for Gift Among 16 Organizations Worldwide

“We are honored and inspired by Lenovo’s commitment to providing technology access for our students. Lenovo’s ChromeBooks will be put to immediate use in our STEM core classes over the summer, our technology-focused clubs and our after-school STEAM workshops.” – Elissa Spelman

Lenovo Foundation selected Breakthrough Greater Boston among 16 organizations worldwide to for a grant, ensuring that our students will have access to one-to-one computing for years to come. Lenovo’s generous gift to Breakthrough features a fleet of 100e ChromeBooks.

Breakthrough interweaves computing into both homework and classroom projects during our intensive, academic Summer Middle School Program. During the school year, students continue to use ChromeBooks during our After School Program to edit photos in photography club, participate in coding workshops and more. Later in their six-year journey at Breakthrough, students use the machines to complete homework during Study Hall, access the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at our financial aid workshops and more.

We are grateful for Lenovo’s donation, which will extend the longevity of our computing resources at Breakthrough and enable students to fully participate in our programming.
